Two lab-created emeralds, half a carat each — the same mineral as a mined emerald, grown rather than dug.

Set in 925 sterling silver with a rhodium layer. The drop measures 28 by 7 millimetres, weighs 2.02 grams and hangs from a hook fitting.

The rhodium layer stops the silver tarnishing and keeps the shine longer. The silver is nickel-free, lead-free and cadmium-free to European standards — hypoallergenic, and comfortable for most sensitive ears.

A lab-created emerald is chemically the same stone as a mined one — same hardness, same refractive index, same colour chemistry — at a fraction of the cost, which is what puts a half-carat stone in an earring at this price. Green reads well against black, cream and navy. They arrive in a free jewellery box with a polishing cloth.
