Two lab-created rubies, half a carat each, ringed with cubic zirconia — 28 millimetres of drop.

Set in 925 sterling silver with a rhodium layer. The drop measures 28 by 7 millimetres, weighs 2.02 grams and hangs from a hook fitting.

The rhodium layer stops the silver tarnishing and keeps the shine longer. The silver is nickel-free, lead-free and cadmium-free to European standards — hypoallergenic, and comfortable for most sensitive ears.

A lab-created ruby is the same mineral as one out of the ground — corundum, same hardness of 9, same red — grown instead of dug. That is what puts a half-carat stone in an earring at this price rather than ten times it. Red carries at a distance in a way that clear stones do not. They arrive in a free jewellery box with a polishing cloth.
